Fostering and Adoption: A Caregiver’s Perspective

Please join us for an enlightening conversation with Lisa Kampwerth (Adoptive Parent, CASA Volunteer and Therapist).
You will hear about Lisa’s adoption story, learn about disruption rates in adoption, understand the challenges families and foster children face, and learn how you as a CASA can guide and support those families and children through the adoption!

About the Presenter:
Lisa Kampwerth is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She has worked as a Mental Retardation Specialist, a Teen Parenting Coach, Juvenile Probation Officer, Researcher and Clinical Team Member for Baylor College of Medicine, a Therapist with Project K.I.D.S and Chairperson for the Fort Bend County Community Resource Coordination Group. In 2003, Lisa began working at Child Advocates of Fort Bend County, first as a CASA Volunteer Supervisor and in 2005 as the first therapist within the Children’s Advocacy Center. Throughout her career, Lisa Kampwerth has always had a passion for children’s mental health, with special focus on child abuse and trauma. Although, Lisa no longer works at Child Advocates she continues to volunteer as a CASA. In 2017, Lisa along with her husband and two biological children, adopted a 10-year-old child from the foster care system. Because of her personal journey, it has become her mission to educate and support others through the adoption process.
